Regulations

FLORA WARSAW MARATHON

 

I. ORGANIZER

1. The organizer: Fundacja "Maraton Warszawski".

II. DATE AND ROUTE

1. The race will take place on September 28, 2008 in Warsaw.


2. Race office will be situated in the building of BUW (The Warsaw University Library) at 56/66 Dobra Street. Race office oppening hours: September 26th (Friday): 4.00 - 10.00 pm, September 27th (Saturday): 12.00 - 10.00 pm, September 28th (Sunday): 6.30 - 8.30 am.

3. The marathon start will take place at 9.00 am.


4. The marathon course will be presented on this website in the first decade of April.


5. Distance: 42,195 km. IAAF-certified.


6. Distance markers every kilometer.


7. Time limit: 6 hrs. Time limit for first half of the distance - 3 hrs.


8. 97% of the race course is asphalt, 3% is cobblestone.


9. Start zones:
Elite runners (1-99) in the first zone,
Other runners in respective time zones.

 

III. WATER AND REFRESHMENT STATIONS, TIME SPLITS

1. Refreshment stations (isotonic drinks and water) every 5K beginning from 15K. At 5K water only.


2. Extra water stations (water and sponges) every 2.5K, beginning from 5K.


3. Split times will be measured at 10, 21 and 30K.

IV. PARTICIPATION

1. The race is open to individuals born on or before September 28, 1990.


2. All race participants must undergo verification in the race office on Friday, September 26th (4-10 p.m.), Saturday, September 27th (12 a.m. - 10 p.m.) and Sunday, September 28th (6:30 - 8:30 a.m.).


3. The race kit to be picked in the race office contains: a race bib, safety pins and a commemorative T-shirt plus a parta party coupon.


4. To successfully undergo identity verification a runner must present a valid ID document with his birthdate and citizenship as well as a race fee payment document (e.g. bank statement).


5. A runner must personally sign a medical declaration or present a medical statement signed by a doctor upon the receipt of the race kit. Any participant unsure of their physical ability to take part in full marathon should take medical advice from a general practitioner prior to the event.


6. Any decisions of the medical crew during the race (including one's continuation of the race) are final.


7. All participants of the race are subject to the respective national track and field federation and these regulations.


8. All participants of individual categories during Flora Warsaw Marathon are subject to respective regulations.

 

V. RACE APPLICATION

1. Applying to the race is possible via the on-line entry form on www.warsawmarathon.com and by mail on applicable entry forms (photocopies will be respected).

2. Mail applications will be accepted by August 31st, 2008. After this date an application will be only possible on-line or in the race office on 26-28 September, 2008.


3. On-line applications will be suspended on September 25th, 2008. After this date the only available method of applying to the race will be in the race office.


4. A race application is valid only if it is properly filled-in and signed and if the entry fee has been paid. In case of on-line applications signatures on the applications will be added during the pre-race verification.

VI. CATEGORIES

1. The following categories will be held during Flora Warsaw Marathon:
? General men and women;
? Age categories: 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, oraz 70+ men and women,;
? Team category (separate rules apply).


2. Additional categories:
- Journalists (individual men and women),
- Bankers (individual men and women),
- Sight-impared - Waldemar Kikolski Memorial,
- National Military Championships.
Specific regulations apply to all the categories listed above.

VII. PRIZES

1. All marathon finishers will receive commemorative medals.


2. Runners ranked 1-6 in the general men and general women categories will receive commemorative statues and prize money. Detailed prize money will be specified in a separate regulation.


3. Runners ranked 1-3 in age categories will receive commemorative statues.


4. Teams ranked 1-3 in age categories will receive commemorative statues.

IX. ENTRY FEES

1. Every person participating in Flora Warsaw Marathon will pay the entry fee. Entry fee is: 30 euro if paid by 30 April 2008, 40 euro if paid by 31 August 2008, 60 euro if paid after 31 August 2008 and 80 euro (if paid in cash in the marathon office).


2. Entry fees for citizens of Poland, member states of CIS, Lithuania, Latvia, Esthonia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria, Rumania, Albania and former Yugoslavia as well as all foreigners living in Poland and holding a residential card: 50 zloty (if paid by 30 April 2008), 60 zloty (if paid by 31 August 2008), 85 zloty (if paid after 31 August 2008) and 110 zloty (if paid in cash in the marathon office).


3. Fees can be paid with credit card at www.warsawmarathon.com with the Davengo system.


4. Entry fees are not refundable or transferrable.


5. Entry fees do not apply to individuals born in or before 1943 and sending in their application forms on or before 31 August 2008.


6. As soon as start fee reaches the Organizer, contester's start number will show next to his name at the start list.

 

X. ACCOMODATION

1. Special accomodation offer is available at www.maratonwarszawski.com.


2. Runners willing to use free accommodation (floorspace in a gym) on 27 September must select a respective box in the registration form and send it in by 31 August 2008. Organizer do not provide mattresses nor sleeping-bags.


3. The pasta party will be held on September 27, between 4 pm and 8 pm.


4. After the race, at the finish line, contesters will be offered with a hot meal.

 

XI. FINAL STATEMENTS

1. All the participants must have their race bibs attached to their shirts on their chests. Any bib modifications are prohibited. Contesters without their race bibs will be ejected from the race course by the race staff.


2. No aids, such as roller-skates, in line blades, cycles or other non-official wheeled vehicles are permitted on the course.


3. Any complaints connected with time measure will be taken within 24 hours since publication of the first, unofficial results at the race website (www.maratonwarszawski.com). Complaints will be considered within 7 days.


4. In order to receive a 50% discount for rail travel to and from 30th Flora Warsaw Marathon (within territory of Poland) a runner must send a request for discount to: Fundacja "Maraton Warszawski"; 03-916 Warszawa, Walecznych 48/3 by 31 August 2008.


5. All the 30th Flora Warsaw Marathon contesters will be offered free massage after the race.


6. The 30th Flora Warsaw Marathon diplomas will be available for downloading at www.maratonwarszawski.com within 14 days after the race.


7. In their race kits contesters will receive deposit bags marked with their start number. The depositing point will be situated near the start line.


8. Changing rooms and showers will be situated near the finish line area.


9. All participants of the race freely agree for the use of their names and/or phographs and pictures for the purposes of any marketing activities of the marathon.


10. The final interpretation of these regulations is the exclusive right of the organizer of the marathon.

TEAM COMPETITION DURING
30TH FLORA WARSAW MARATHON

1. Team competition is open to teams representing clubs, businesses, organizations as well as other entities and groups of runners.

2. The minimum number of runners on the team is 4 (jncluding at least 1 woman). There is no maximum number of runners.

3. Individuals representing teams are subject to the regulations of 30th Flora Warsaw Marathon. A runner can represent only one team.

4. The only person representing a team is the team capitan who:
- sends in the team application,
- determines team members,
- represents the team in all official contacts,
- contacts the organizers of the marathon.

5. Sending the team application can be done via e-mail (info@maratonwarszawski.com) or fax (+48 22 353 85 25) between 1st of August to 16th of September 2008. Any changes after 16th of September 2008 will not be possible. Applications will contain: name of the team and team members' names, surnames, birth dates and start numbers.

6. Applications without complete data (name of the team and team members' names, surnames, birth dates and start numbers) will not be accepted.

7. An individual runner declares to be a part of a team by filling in the name of the team in the "Club/team/company" field of his or her individual entry form. The team capitan will make the final decision to include an individual runner in his/her team by adding his/her name in the team application form. A team can consist only of runners who fill in the team's name in the individual application form.

8. Final list of teams taking part in team competition will be published at maratonwarszawski.com on September 10th.

9. The team finish time is the total of three best team members times. The final order in the team competition is determined according to the total times. If less than 4 team members (of which at least one will be a woman) finish the race the team will not be classified.

10. The team competition is held as an overall category. No age categories will be held.

11. Should two teams finish the race in identical times the winner will be the team with more runners to finish the race, then with better individual times of the first finishing runner of the team.

12. Top three teams will receive commemorative statues.
